About iTally

iTally delivers tally for live production. The server runs on one computer, reads live Program / Preview from your switcher and sends it to every screen: the browser console, the phone web page, the iOS / Android app, Apple Watch, and clients and hardware you build yourself. iTally only reads state; it never controls the switcher. Every screen uses the same colours:

  • Red: Program, on air
  • Green: Preview, up next
  • Black: Off, confirmed in neither Program nor Preview
  • Yellow: Unknown (connection lost, switcher not connected, or no input chosen)
Part Role
iTally server Runs on one computer. Connects to the switcher, stores your cameras and sends tally to the console and phones
Console The management page in your browser. Choose the switcher, add cameras and create QR codes for phones
iTally launcher A small app in the menu bar (macOS) or system tray (Windows, Linux). Opens the console, starts and stops the service, and can start it at login
Screens The phone web page (opened from a QR code), the iOS / Android app (coming soon), Apple Watch (coming soon), and clients and hardware built on the public endpoints
  • Read-only: iTally only subscribes to and queries the switcher. It never sends a switching or control command.
  • One switcher at a time: 11 switchers and protocols are supported; one is connected at a time.
  • Unknown is not Off: When iTally detects a lost connection or missing data, every screen shows yellow, never black Off.
  • Stays on your network: Every screen and every other computer connects to this computer over the same local network. No internet, no account.
