- Check that this computer can ping the switcher’s IP and that both are on the same local network.
- Check that the switcher side has the right feature and port open: TCP 8099 allowed through the vMix computer’s firewall; the WebSocket server turned on in OBS Studio; the HS410_IF plug-in installed on a Panasonic AV-HS410; TCP 8023 reachable on a Roland VR Series.
- Read the error on the console’s Switcher page, such as “Wrong OBS Studio password” or “Port already in use. Choose another listen port”.
- Check the server log:
~/Library/Logs/iTally/server.log on macOS, %LOCALAPPDATA%\iTally\Logs\server.log on Windows, ~/.local/state/iTally/server.log on Linux.
- Point the switcher’s output at the “computer address : port” shown on the Switcher page, and use the same UDP / TCP setting on both sides.
- If a firewall prompt appears, allow it.
- If another program is using the port, the page says so. Choose another listen port, or close that program and iTally recovers automatically.
- The phone and the computer must be on the same local network. Some venue Wi-Fi networks isolate devices; try another network.
- On the Phone access page, choose the right network card for Computer address. The list may include virtual network cards such as Docker’s; choose the one on the same subnet as the switcher and phones.
- On yellow, the screen shows the reason. For “Switcher not connected”, see “The switcher does not connect”. “Input not found” means the camera has no input chosen for the current switcher, or its input does not exist on the switcher. “Camera deleted” means the camera was deleted in the console.
- TSL UMD V3.1 defaults to tally 1 = Program and tally 2 = Preview; some switchers use the opposite, so check the switcher’s settings.
- Roland VR Series reports PGM only, so Preview never lights; vMix and Roland Smart Tally never report Program and Preview at once.
- ATEM follows the M/E 1 program output only: switching on M/E 2 lights nothing unless M/E 1 uses M/E 2.
- TSL over UDP cannot detect a switcher going offline and keeps the last state. Use TCP instead.
- Vizrt TriCaster sends updates only on change. If power or the cable is lost while the connection stays open, it takes a few minutes to show Unknown.
- Check that Other computers is turned on in the launcher window and that the service is running.
- If the page says there were too many wrong codes, wait 1 minute and try again.
- If a firewall prompt appears, allow it.
