Connect a switcher
On the console’s Switcher page, choose a type and enter its settings. One switcher is connected at a time. Settings and camera inputs are saved for each type, so if you change to another type and back, the IP and inputs are still there.
iTally only subscribes and queries. It never sends a switching or control command to a switcher.
- Enter the IP of the vMix computer. The port is always TCP 8099; allow it through that computer’s firewall.
- Cameras follow the input’s GUID, so reordering, renaming, or adding and removing other inputs never shifts a camera. If its input is deleted, the camera shows Unknown.
- The vMix protocol reports one state per input, never Program and Preview at once.
Blackmagic Design ATEM
Section titled “Blackmagic Design ATEM”- Enter the ATEM’s IP (UDP 9910), or click Find next to the IP field and choose one of the ATEMs found on the network. The first time, macOS may ask for Local Network access; allow it.
- The input list shows external inputs by default, named as in ATEM Software Control.
- Tally follows the M/E 1 program output. Cameras in other M/Es used by M/E 1, in upstream and downstream keys and in SuperSource light up too. Switching only on M/E 2, while M/E 1 does not use M/E 2, lights nothing. During a transition, both sources show Program.
- A camera in both program and preview shows Program (red).
OBS Studio
Section titled “OBS Studio”- Requires OBS Studio 30 or later. In OBS Studio, turn on the server under Tools > WebSocket Server Settings.
- Enter the IP, port (4455 by default) and password (leave it empty if none is set). A wrong password shows “Wrong OBS Studio password”. Once saved, the password field shows only Saved.
- Sources visible in the program scene show Program; in Studio Mode, sources visible in the preview scene show Preview. Sources in nested scenes and groups follow their parents; hidden scene items do not count. Outside Studio Mode there is no Preview.
- Renaming a source does not change its camera.
TSL UMD V3.1 / V5.0
Section titled “TSL UMD V3.1 / V5.0”- The switcher sends tally to iTally. Choose a transport (UDP or TCP) and a listen port. The page shows “computer address : port”; point the switcher’s TSL output there. If a firewall prompt appears, allow it.
- The input list shows only addresses already received; addresses never received show Unknown.
- By default tally 1 = Program and tally 2 = Preview (V5.0: red = Program, green = Preview). Switchers differ, so check on site.
- Over UDP, iTally cannot detect when the switcher goes offline and keeps the last state. To detect it, use TCP.
Datavideo DVIP
Section titled “Datavideo DVIP”- Models: SE-650, SE-700, SE-1200MU, HS-1300. Enter the switcher’s IP. Leave Port (the DVIP real-time port) empty and iTally requests a free one (the switcher accepts up to 4 clients).
- Cameras use In 1–6, and only the PGM / PST buses count; keys, DSK and transitions do not.
Panasonic AV-HS410
Section titled “Panasonic AV-HS410”- The switcher requires the HS410_IF plug-in. Enter its IP (TCP 60040).
- Cameras use Input 1–13 and stay correct when XPT button assignments change. State can lag by up to about 200 ms.
Roland Smart Tally
Section titled “Roland Smart Tally”- For V-60HD, V-160HD, V-80HD and others. Enter the switcher’s IP. On models with web login turned on (always on the V-160HD), also enter the username and password.
- The input list shows channels 1–8, or HDMI 1–8 and SDI 1–8, depending on the model.
- The protocol returns one state per channel, so a channel in both PGM and PST shows Program only.
Roland VR Series
Section titled “Roland VR Series”- For VR-50HD MK II and others. Set the LAN IP on the switcher, then enter it here (TCP 8023).
- The input list is INPUT 1–4 and STILL. The protocol reports PGM only, so Preview never lights.
Vizrt TriCaster
Section titled “Vizrt TriCaster”- Enter the TriCaster’s IP (TCP 5951).
- The TriCaster does not provide an input list: a source appears once it has been on Program or Preview. Reordering buttons or changing labels does not affect cameras.
- The TriCaster sends updates only on change. If power or the cable is lost while the connection stays open, it takes a few minutes to show Unknown.
Grass Valley (Contribution Tally)
Section titled “Grass Valley (Contribution Tally)”- For Kalypso, Zodiak and Ross Vision. Connect the switcher’s serial tally output to a serial-to-network converter that sends to “this computer’s IP : port” over UDP or TCP.
- Choose the model (Grass Valley or Ross Vision), transport and listen port. Changing the model keeps every camera’s input.
- At low baud rates, Connected can take a few seconds to appear, and the full input list more than ten.
